Moldova is one of our poorest countries. In the 1980’s this was still a communist country and this type of work was prohibited. This allowed no alternative but for LSM to operate ‘underground’. In 1985, the founder of LSM, Florin PinbidBlaj arrived in Chicago with his wife and daughter. Since 1990 LSM has been unfolding its work from the international headquarters in Hickory, NC. Since then this modest ‘underground’ beginnings of LSM have been transformed and expanded through God’s grace. Today, the Little Samaritan Mission has over 85 full-time workers in the Republic of Moldova, Siberia, and Romania. Over 30 state orphanages depend on LSM to provide clothing, shoes, medicine, coal for heating, food items, hot water heaters, mattresses and electrical generators. Through the years in ministry, LSM has launched projects to benefit the children in the orphanages from the most basic material necessities to spiritual nourishment. Printing and distributing Christian literature to orphans poverty-stricken families, and adults eager to study God’s Word, has earned the Little Samaritan Mission, an identity, as an organization actively meeting the material needs of the children and the poor but also proclaiming God’s Word.
It is only with God’s grace and His strength that through the struggles, the difficulties and yet the victories over the years LSM can continue to be an avenue of hope, guidance, and encouragement in the years to come, so that the most important goal for our ministry will be attained: “train up a child the way he should go, so that when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
